The death of Senator "splash" Ted Kennedy

No doubt that today the news story is going to focus on the passing of Ted Kennedy. He was known as the "liberal lion" of the U.S Senate. I know for a fact that the coverage of his life is going to mainly focus on his political career as an ultra liberal politician. That means that the media is going to shower him with praise and admiration. The media of course loved Ted Kennedy. He was one of them in being a liberal. I'm not going to promote Ted Kennedy as some sort of patron saint. He was anything but that. I wonder how often the name of Mary Jo Kpochne will be uttered by the media today and in the days leading up to his funeral? Let me tell you the story about Mary Jo, since the media at best will gloss over her or not even mention her at all today. Mary Jo Kpochne was a campaign staffer for Ted Kennedy. On July 18th 1969, Ted Kennedy and Mary Jo attended a party on Chappaquiddick Island. Later that evening, a drunken Ted Kennedy attempted to drive Mary Jo home or back to his house. While crossing the Chappaquiddick bridge, Ted Kennedy somehow drove the car into the Chappaquiddick river. As the car was sinking, Ted Kennedy freed himself and continued to swim to shore. He never attempted to try and save the life of Mary Joe Kpochne. If that wasn't bad enough, Ted actually managed to sink even lower. He decided to wait until morning to call the police about what happened. It should be noted that Ted first called his lawyer and some of his aides, then he called the police. Some thought he should have been convicted of manslaughter. I guess because Ted was an ultra liberal from a prominent liberal family, that made him above the law. A week after the incident, Kennedy pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident after causing injury. He received a two month suspended sentence. He basically got a slap on the wrist. People who leave the scene of car accidents don't get off that lightly. This was his excuse to why he not only left Mary Jo to die but also waited until the next morning to even report it.

If a conservative politician would have committed the same unthinkable acts, his political career would have been over He would have been sentenced to prison instead. Some said it was because of Ted's actions that night that prevented him from winning the Democrat nomination for President against Jimmy Carter. I still can't believe that the people in Massachusetts kept re electing him every six years for forty seven years. So many politicians have destroyed their political careers, because they cheated on their wives. Ted Kennedy left a woman to die on purpose, and he was re elected to the U.S Senate for almost eight terms. What does that say about the people of Massachusetts and liberals in general? Here is something to remember Ted Kennedy by. The classics never die, they just get archived and repeated.

Little Teddy is dead. He shrugged off responsibility for he death of a woman in life, however, he can't use his family name in the after-life and he can't use political correctness with God. There are no lawyers to call in the spirit world. Good Luck Teddy! You should have called the police, not your lawyer....

That’s a terrible thing for American…and the world; we all lost a great man and also a long legacy of family patriots and supporters to the American people and politics. We will miss you. Condolences to the family.

Here's the irony, Ted Kennedy's death is being used to promote a healthcare plan that would promote directing elderly Americans to take a pain pill instead of the more expensive end of life care that Kennedy himself availed himself of, to extend his life every minute that he could.

That kind of double standard hypocrisy was not at all atypical of Ted Kennedy's entire life - railing against Ford's pardon of Nixon asking, ironially enough, "Is there now one standard for the wealthy and connected and another for everybody else?"

There sure was on Chappaquiddick, wasn't there?

And after changing MA law to circumvent a Republican Governor from replacing Senator Kerry, if he'd won the Presidency, now, at the end of his life, fought to change the law back...so that a despised Democratic Governor (Deval Patrick has the lowest approval ratings in recent history) can pick a Democratic replacement for himself.

PLEASE Massachusetts, atone for your sins and elect a Conservative to Ted's seat. Hell, even a provincial, blue blood like a Cabbot-Lodge woud be an improvement over the last 47 years!

Most people knew Ted Kennedy was a fake Catholic. Liberal politicians in general are the same way. Nancy Pelosi is another faker. She;ll get hers eventually too. You are so right allan. Kennedy's name means jack squat where he is at right now. If Ted was moral person, he would have tried to save Mary Jo. It should have been instinct to have tried. By him waiting until the next day to even report it showed how scummy that low life truly was. I couldn't live with myself if I was in Ted's shoes. Ted didn't have a soul. All he cared about was himself and his political career. When the event happened, I wouldn't be surprised if Ted was thinking how this would impact him running for President.

Chilerkle "Teddy may be gone but that doesn't excuse his indefensible actions! I'm thoroughly disgusted with Liberals in general!"

According to the media Chilerkle, Ted was forgiven along time ago. About 5 to 10% of the media coverage focused on Chappaquiddick. It really couldn't be considered "focusing". It was a gloss over at best. The media knew they had to report it, but they really didn't want to do it.They didn't highlight it.

derek "That’s a terrible thing for American…and the world; we all lost a great man and also a long legacy of family patriots and supporters to the American people and politics. We will miss you. Condolences to the family."

Who was the great man that was lost derek? You can't mean Ted do you? I was walking in downtown Baltimore yesterday, and I saw the flag in front of City Hall was lowered. At first I was confused, because I wonder who important died to warrant the flag to have been lowered to half mast. Then I thought, they lowered the flag for Ted Kennedy? Besides Ted Kennedy being a drunken, womanizing person who let a woman drown on purpose, he was a Senator of Massachusetts not the rest of the 49 states. He wasn't the President. He was not a great person. Maybe to people who shared his socialist dream he was a great person. To others, he was on the same level as dog dung.

Thank you. Glen Beck is one of my favorites. Speaking of Glen, he had Rush Limbaugh on his show yesterday for an interview. It was a remote interview, but it was very interesting. It looks like Obama and his storm troopers are gearing up for a back door push to reinstate the "fairness doctrine". As long as liberals continue to hate my gutts, I will continue doing what I do. :-)

jmk "Here's the irony, Ted Kennedy's death is being used to promote a healthcare plan that would promote directing elderly Americans to take a pain pill instead of the more expensive end of life care that Kennedy himself availed himself of, to extend his life every minute that he could."

Yeah jmk, Ted Kennedy has become the new Paul Wellstone. Liberal always need a person to exploit and pimp in the name of their cause. Cindy Shehan is a great example of a "useful idiot". In the case of Ted, he is a "useful prop". So now they area going to use the battle cry of "lets win this one for Ted". So what they are saying is that they really don't give a dam about the people not wanting government healthcare, all they care about is what Ted Kennedy wanted and how they can use his death to accomplish that. I remember when they pulled that stunt at the funerals of Rosa Parks and Coretta Scott King. These people are beyond sickening. They'll pimp their own family if they think it would help them politically.

jmk" That kind of double standard hypocrisy was not at all atypical of Ted Kennedy's entire life - railing against Ford's pardon of Nixon asking, ironially enough, "Is there now one standard for the wealthy and connected and another for everybody else?"

Ted Kennedy was one of the most partisan members in the Senate. He was a proud self professed "liberal". I give him credit for that. At least he was comfortable acknowledging who he was. Liberals of today are so cowardly, they can't even admit they are liberals. But he was a hardcore partisan none the less. The media nor his supporters ever told Teddy boy that he needed "cross the aisle" or moderate his views. The media and liberals are celebrating him because of his liberal stance. The hypocrisy is so deep jmk. Liberals are quick to tell conservatives and republicans that we need to "come to the center". Ted never got that email or message. Hell, the tinfoil leftwing wingnuts of Moveon.org had a candle light ceremony in honor of Ted.

jmk ".There sure was on Chappaquiddick, wasn't there? And after changing MA law to circumvent a Republican Governor from replacing Senator Kerry, if he'd won the Presidency, now, at the end of his life, fought to change the law back...so that a despised Democratic Governor (Deval Patrick has the lowest approval ratings in recent history) can pick a Democratic replacement for himself."

Katie Couric glancingly brought it up. It was a one minute piece if not that long jmk. Because of Deval's low approval ratings, has he whipped out the race card yet? If he hasn't done it, give him time. You can forgot about Massachusetts ever electing a conservative. That state is the east coast version of Berkeley and San Francisco jmk. Mass is solidly blue. from it's congressional representation to it's state house delegation. These people didn't care that Ted left a woman to die jmk, they voted for him over and over and over and over and over and over again. They are blue dog liberal dems to the core.

Dear Conservative Brother,

You are right that Sen Kennedy was a predator, but that is not appropriate to recall at this time. Later, perhaps. The late Senator may be hell bound. That is not for us to decide.

What is meet for us is we recognize his family misses him terribly. They deserve our condolence.

Farewell to Senator Splash, the Late Senior Senator from CHAPPAQUIDDICK. If this were a truly fair and just society, Kennedy would have died a disgraced EX-SENATOR. As for Derek, that guy should stop drinking the coolaid, along with his fellow Libs. This is truly a superb blog! Keep up the good work!

Since liberals control the media, it was never going to happen. The coverage today of his funeral was like some beloved president died instead of a womanizing, drunk who purposely left a woman to drown.

I'm sorry that this is filled with false-hoods. One, have you seen pictures of the Dike Bridge? Even though it's 2 way, it's barely the size of a one way street, at the time there were no guardrails and the water comes up right to the edge of the road (he was only going 20mph). Secondly, he went to get help from 2 friends and they all tried diving for her & failed. My major question regarding this has always been: why didn't his 2 friends call the police? Third, vehicular homicide, not first degree murder. MacTavish received only a year imprisonment for vehicular homicide in Peabody, MA in 1984 (while under the influence of alcohol and while driving to endanger). CURRENT, MA law is 2.5 to 15 years or 1 to 2.5 years for "Vehicular Homicide While Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol or Other Drugs and While Operating To Endanger" (not sure why there are 2 tiers, probably the record of individual or other circumstances). http://www.mass.gov/norfolkda/homicide.html#vehhom

And there has never been anything about seniors being "put to sleep" in any of the health care reform bills. Some private health insurances already cover end of life counseling (do you want extraordinary measures taken?), others do not...it's a provision to ensure that the doctors get paid for their counseling time, not a government "death panel"....which, btw, for-profits do have these, it's just called a "cost-benefit" discussion.

Whoever wrote this should really do some fact checking prior to posting vilification and should be aware that defamation is a prosecutory offense (since this libel, very easy to prove in court).

Finally, Splash was his dog, not a nickname for the late senator....
