OCCUPY: The movement that was doomed from the start.

The Occupy Wall Street movement aka OWS was destined to become a national joke from the very beginning. The original intent was to try and create a progressive version of the Tea Party movement. It appears that that grand experiment has become an utter failure. Any true organization movement has to have a core purpose, and when the OWS protesters ddn't even know why they were there, it was just a matter of time before the wheels came flying off this so called grass roots movement. The requests made by the OWS movement were laughable and absurd. One request was to eliminate money. Yeah, wait for that to happen. Nobody can say why the OWS movement started taking over other areas cross the country. At that point, that is when it's core message about it's purpose to protest Wall Street became diluted and clouded. As of today, the police across the country are cleaning out the vermin known as Occupy crowd. Things have been happening in the Occupy areas that you would NEVER, EVER see at any Tea Party event across the country. In the Occupy areas

women have been raped

drugs have been sold

a person was shot

the areas have become hygienic hazard and community health concern

fights were breaking out

thefts were accruing in and around occupy camps

vandalism of private and public property

Well apparently the good times have come to an end.

I'm trying to remember the last time a Tea Party event resembled anything like the Occupy movement. For some reason, my mind is drawing a complete blank. These bottom feeders of society crack me up. They have become nothing more then public squatters, yet they have the absolute nerve to believe they are entitled to do it. The public areas that they are trespassing on belong to the tax paying citizens who live in their perspective cities across the country. The Occupy vermin do not work thus don't pay taxes are infringing on the rights of the true property owners, the tax payers. That is what the media isn't reporting. I would wager that these crack downs by the police across the country is a direct result of citizens finally saying enough is enough. Amazing that two months ago, Democratic politicians were applauding this movement, now they have distanced themselves from it once they have discovered how badly it has turned out. I said earlier that the Occupy folks aren't exactly the sharpest knives in the drawer. Let me demonstrate what I mean. About 30 Occupy Wall Street protesters interrupted a foreign policy speech by Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann in South Carolina.

If these drones would have done any research on Michelle Bachmann, they would have found out that she VOTED AGAINST THE WALL STREET TARP BAILOUT IN 2008.These idiots didn't even realize that she was actually on their side. Once again, no core focus, no legitimate message. When you build a movement on a weak foundation, don't be surprised, when it comes tumbling down.

Typical Tyrone...you don't have the faintest clue about history.

Full disclosure- I am not involved in the "Occupy Movement", however I do support their cause(s).

Throughout American history Tyrone, these types of movements have shown themselves to be quite resilient. From the 1934 West Coast Longshoremen's Strike to the Bonus Army protests, to the Flint Auto Strike and Sit In, to the Vietnam Protests, to the Civil Rights Protests.

History has shown that these types of protests become stronger and larger when confronted by police or other government actions to break them down. So far in every single case, in every single city where the police have raided and broken up the protests, the protesters have returned....some, in even larger numbers!

Contrary to your attempt to demonize the entire movement with a few violent incidents, for the most part the protests all over the country have been peaceful. (of course until the point the police raids begin). Although the spirit of the movement is basically the same as those of the past, there's a new dynamic at play. Computers, cell phones, fax machines, social networking and new technology of the like allows people to organize much faster. Unfortunately there is always going to be the shady elements who prey upon others simply to take advantage of the situation.

The Occupy movement had one purpose ONLY... to knock the Tea Party and its' agenda off the Evening News.

Mission accomplished.

Allen, you are an idiot. You try and paint to movement as a good thing and yet why are they not protesting at the white house who's actions had initiated the bailouts with wall street and the banks in the first place. You can't be that dumb. If you want what they seem to want which is social justice/socialism, to punish the market... capitalism and punish the rich which are also small businesses, Entertainers and Doctors then fine, let's start a European model of Government then and end up just like Greece, Spain and Italy. If you even watch the news i will have you know the Spain is looking into a center-right change in there Government structure because the Socialism/Liberal ideas are not working. Several Austerity measures are taking place and that means they now have to live within there means and rely less of hand-outs which is what much of what OWS people want. Is this what you want? We don't need a revolution, what we need is to go back to what worked before Government grew to big and that is less Government/Bureaucracy, free-market privatization of most entities and give states back there power. This is what the Tea Party want's. You should quit your job and join them.

You know here is a simple way of looking at this movement to. They are going after the effect and not the cause.

So Allen, if these protesters are hurting for jobs and wages, how can they afford the computers, smartphones and such? I mean, I have a good paying job, but I can't afford those luxuries?

Sounds like they just don't have their priorities straight.

Especially if they're against corporations, they don't have a problem giving those big corporations their money for those items.

Eddie;"Allen, you are an idiot".

Being that "name calling" is a defensive measure of those who's arguments are weak, I'll let that one slide...

I am a staunch believer in the free market capitalist economic system and model. I am also a true believer in the principles of our democracy. What I'm not a believer in is capitalistic greed. I do not advocate for the gluttony of a corporation or a person who devastates people and communities, simply to enrich themselves.

"If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich".
-John F. Kennedy-

Eddie;"and punish the rich which are also small businesses".

Name me ONE "small business" where the owner/operator earns enough money to be considered rich. In 2008, John McCain said that earning $5 million a year makes you rich. So, is a business who's owner earns $5 million a year really a "small business?"

There's also the political game being played by the right-wing, of a so-called "socialist takeover" of America.

The fact is every American enjoys, and agrees with a large amount of socialism.

In the mid 1800's, no one complained and everyone cheered the "socialist" railroads. Driving around in your car is a lot easier on a "socialist" road. Most Americans attended and enjoy their "socialist" schools. Lord forbid you ever have to call your "socialist" fire department and have a "socialist" EMS ambulance convey you to a local "socialist" hospital. Ever made a call overseas or coast-to-coast via a "socialist" government satellite? How about those "socialist" that protect your intellectual Property framework and makes your creations available to commerce? And those "socialist" that warn you when a hurricane, flood or tornado is on it's way. And after such a desaster, it's the "socialist" that come to clean up the mess and help rebuild. Don't forget that it's the "socialists" that allows you to cancel your debts of misfortune by "rupting the bank."

Sure...you don't want to wind up like Greece, Italy or Spain. Yet, you want all of the above, minus the social safety net that keeps the poorest Americans fed and clothed.

You claim "the people must now live within their means and rely less on handouts".

Yet the very very richest among us, use their wealth and influence to install government policies that favors their own interests. In every case these policies have been shown to prevent domestic expansion and reduce the marginal propensity to consume which is the basic fuel of our economy.

You claim "the people must now live within their means and rely less on handouts".

25 million Americans are looking for work. At the same time Republican candidates are mocking those who are protesting because of the ever growing gap between the rich and the poor.

You claim "the people must now live within their means and rely less on handouts".

What's even more damning is that right-wingers are able to play both sides of the fence. On one hand right-wingers blame president Obama for the high unemployment statistics. One the other, a Republican candidate was "cheered" for claiming "it's a persons own fault if he didn't have a job."

You claim that "the people must now live within their means and rely less on handouts".

More than 20 million homeowners are "under water" or can't pay their mortgages. And most of the same banks that were bailed out by the government, are the direct cause of the homeowners troubles. Yet the "rich" bankers have gotten richer.

You claim that "the people must now live within their means and rely less on handouts".

Here in Michigan we have felt the brunt of "right-wing government austerity measures." This is what the rich+government is doing to the 99%: But a few states have moved significantly backward in this area, raising taxes on low-income working families in order to finance tax cuts that benefit corporations and wealthy individuals.

However, Michigan is for some reason bouncing back on the job front. It doesn't count though, as far as conservatives are concerned. Jobs are being created in the now "socialist" auto industry. Lets hope these employed "socialists" live within their means....

Just keep on talking Allen. You are still the 20%. With just ideas, history says otherwise. For you to side with these fools you are only supporting trying to alter a nation with radical ideas until there is nothing left that resembles America and what it stands for. They and you call this social justice but all i see is deluded morons who are attacking the wrong people and cry for fairness, fairness like what, where everyone is equal, makes the same pay, punishes those who make too much money. The only thing that is going to get us out of this mess is a limited government with most entities being privatized and a fair free-market. I suggest you research Milton Friedman because he would eat people like you for breakfast, however, unlike you he is an astute and kind gentleman. If you dare disagree with him then you are no better then the lobbyists, the bureaucracy and expanding governments power over the people. You claim to be a liberal? To liberate, to have freedom, well, your ideas always contradict that sir. Conservative and libertarian ideas is the only thing that will fix this problem and not social engineering and bigger government sir.

You want class warfare, well there it is. Good ol' OWS.

There is not enough links you can point to me because i do not trust the internet. I go by real history and use more traditional methods.

Anon;"So Allen, if these protesters are hurting for jobs and wages, how can they afford the computers, smartphones and such? I mean, I have a good paying job, but I can't afford those luxuries?".

First off, how did you post your response if you don't own a computer? Are you mooching off others?

There are legitimate and mindfully fugal ways to own a smart phone and a computer. A used computer can be easily obtained from most public schools or colleges. Free Internet "Hot Spots" for access are easy to find as the nearest McDonalds. There are also Aid Groups that offer free computers to low-income individuals. And Free Cell Phone Service For the Poor.

If you really do have a "good paying job", (which at the present moment in America is rare for the average worker) you should be able to afford a computer and smart phone, because they're relatively inexpensive.

The idea that you say you can't afford such luxuries, leads me to believe that you don't have a "good paying job." This is a mentality that has been washed into many low income conservatives brains. As long as a rich fat cat can make you believe you have a "good paying job", they can continue to make you work harder, for longer hours, and continually for less pay. All the while his bank acccount grows larger and faster because he's intentionally making yours get smaller.

Good luck on your "good paying job."

Eddie;"There is not enough links you can point to me because i do not trust the internet. I go by real history and use more traditional methods".

Don't trust the Internet? What do you think you're using to make all the stupid comments you've been making? That makes as much sense as your hating the taste of orange juice, but you love to eat oranges.

Anon;"The only thing that is going to get us out of this mess is a limited government with most entities being privatized and a fair free-market".

"Most entities" are already privately owned, somewhere around 99%!!! Politicians that make up the government and big business are "ONE ENTITY."

15 freshmen members of the Tea Party Caucus have embraced many of the same special interests that have supported Republicans for years. The fifteen combined have received over $3,450,000 during the first three quarters of this year.

Your problem is that you've bought into an ideology (conservatism) thats convinced (ie; brainwashed) you to vote them into government office. It's all about political power, control and MONEY! All you're doing is parroting the contrived set of talking points that they use to get themselves elected.

You're a working class stiff just like me. Far be it from me to try to convince you that you're promoting an ideology that's contrary to your best interests. What it will take is for the trend of transference of wealth from the poor to the rich to hit your very own home.

When your employer comes to you and says that you'll need to take a drastic cut in pay, and your health insurance comapny says you'll need to pay "a bit more", and your utility bills begin to exceed the amount you pay on your underwater mortgage, and then you read that the oil companies gain have posted record profits...only then will you realize that you're playing for the wrong team...

unless you're rich, of course.

Also i may add, the more i listen to this man, the more i think i am a Liberal in the traditional sense and not the misused term that modern "Liberals" use who's actions are that of being in favor of more state control and or collectivism. Conservative is the wrong term as it states to conserve, change nothing, leave the current as it is. So if many of us want a change then we are all Liberal but the question is in what direction do we want to head in. Bigger Government or smaller Government with a privatized system.

Eddie;"It is folks such as yourself that need to listen closely to men like this. As it is, his predictions are coming true as we live. You can not deny this!".

Eddie, economics is not an exact science. Economists and economic theories are as different and numerous as religious beliefs. If you were to listen to a Preist, a Rabbi, an Imam, or a Mormon, they would all give a different story on how to get to heaven. Yet the eventual outcome would be the same, you'll be dead! Likewise, if you were to read or listen to James Galbraith, Joseph Stiglitz, Paul Krugman, Orlando Letelier or Don Boudreaux, the stories on how to achieve economic prosperity would be different, yet the outcomes are the same...either you have prosperity, or you don't!

The only exact thing in an economy is the final count of how much money that one has in their bank account on any given day. If you think that listening to Milton Friedman is going to improve your bank account, go right ahead. I'll stick with the economics of my own incomes an outputs.

It's easy Allen, I have a good paying job, but I don't have a laptop or Ipad smartphone like the Occupiers.

I have a desktop that I pieced together from parts I bought at a computer show. You save a lot of money doing so.

You can't do that with an Ipad or laptop or smartphone.

I have a mobile phone, but it's just a phone. I don't pay extra for something I really don't need because a smartphone costs too much.

You can't get a laptop or smartphone from the services you quote.

IE: they don't have their priorities straight.

Thanks for playing!

As far as the phones go Allen, what I'm talking about is I see these occupiers with expensive smartphones in these videos. One video I've seen, one is holding as Samsung Galaxy. That's a $500+ phone.

So they can afford a $500 phone, but they're complaining about wages.

It is to laugh!
