The unoffical roasting of Obama by Dr. Benjamin Carson at the National Prayer Breakfast.

Dr. Benjamin Carson is one of the most awe inspiring men I have ever come to know. I haven't met him personally, but I have followed his career for years now. Dr. Carson is world renowned neurosurgeon and is the director Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery here in Baltimore at John Hopkins. Dr. Carson grew up in poverty in Detroit while being cared for by his single mother Sonya Carson. I've heard him tell his life story and how he overcame the odds through his faith and never seeing himself as a victim. He attended Yale and the University of Michigan's School of Medicine. I really love hearing about black people who believe in themselves and realize that they are the only obstacles to them ultimately succeeding in life or failing. No political party is a savior nor protector of an individual. Of course, progressives never see that, and they think the concept of self determination is a ridiculous concept. Anyways, yesterday in Washington D.C at the annual National Prayer Breakfast, Dr Carson who was invited to speak gave a speech that made Obama very uncomfortable. Dr. Carson used his time to criticize political correctness, Obamacare and the nation's out of control national debt. Dr. Carson's speech lasted for 27 minutes, but it wasn't long enough for me, because it was that good. Dr. Carson isn't politically active as far as I know. He just speaks common sense, and this country sorely needs more people like him. I highly recommend watching his speech just to see Obama's facial expressions alone is worth it.

Methinks he's now off the Whitehouse Christmas card list.

I'm also for a flat tax, if fairness is really what we're after here. It is, isn't it?

Fairness is decided BEFORE the race, not while it's being run.

I'm for the flat tax as well Vincent. This goes right back to what I say about progressives being hypocrites and frauds. How could everybody paying the exact same tax rate not be unfair? I tell ding bats on the left this all the time, and they still can't comprehend 3rd grade logic. If a person who makes one million a year income and is taxed at 15%, he or she will pay one hundred and fifty thousand dollars in taxes. If a person makes only thirty thousand and is taxed at the same fifteen percent, he or she will pay four five hundred dollars. They both are paying the same tax rate, but the person who makes more is going to pay more. This is exactly what liberals claim they want, people with more income paying more in taxes.

I have watched this video the other day, and I found Dr. Carson's speech inspiring. What I enjoyed too was watching Obama's body language, which I knew he was uncomfortable with Dr. Carson and I think he felt threatened.

I'm glad to see someone who had the guts embarrass Obama. I'm surprised C-Span did not bother to cut him off. Makes me wonder if they're a conservative network.

I would be a huge draw for the American Conservative Union if they invited Dr. Carson to speak as the keynote speaker at next year's CPAC. I think CSPAN is just there to cover events. They try to remain unbiased. I give them credit for that. I know the ultra tolerant left (sarcasm) is going to start targeting Dr. Carson for daring to speak out in disagreement with the progressive's American Idol the Big O.

I just got done reading "Stupid Black Men: How To Play The Race Card-And Lose" by Larry Elder. The book was later updated, when Obama was elected into office and retitled, "What's Race Got To Do With It?"; I think some black leaders, and other progressive blacks, whom Elder targeted the most got "offended" by the original title.

Like what Dr. Carson's speech, Elder does explain in detail how government dependency, political correctness, and affirmative action is hurting the black community.

If you haven't read, it's worth to read. I couldn't put it down.

Flat Tax, what about no taxes? Is forced corersion by an IRS Agent really the answer here? Of course there is the argument of who will help the poor or who will build the roads, heard this all before. If anyone is for taxes, you are still a Statist who believes in the violence of the centralized state power. There are plenty of other solutions, like Mutual Aid Societies, Voluntary Donation Programs and so on.

All that's missing was 9-9-9.

Guy may be a great surgeon but as an economist he;s a stone stiff. Nothing but completely unimaginative failed supply side boiler plate.

For a brilliant man he came up with absolutely nothing original.

Ducky's here"All that's missing was 9-9-9."

We didn't need 999 last night Ducky, we head Obama saying mankind is killing the planet, we need to tax people more to "invest" in alternative fuel which has already been done by Obama to the tune of several dozens companies gone and are on the verge of going bankrupt.

Ducky's here "Guy may be a great surgeon but as an economist he;s a stone stiff. Nothing but completely unimaginative failed supply side boiler plate."

Well Dr. Carson is a brilliant surgeon not just a great one. Also Ducky, Dr. Carson knows a lot more about how the economy works then you, your Community Organizer Obama and other progressives. Some solutions in life aren't complex. Dr Carson is smart enough to understand that Keynesian economics has never worked. Under Obama, more debt has been added in his first term then under both terms of George Bush, yet the economy is still worse know then it was prior to 2008. Under Bush and supply side economic, the unemployment rate was near and below statistical full employment at 5% and that was with a FULL LABOR PARTICIPATION RATE. Under Obama and and his Keynesian economics failed theory of big governemnt spending, 8 million people have dropped out of the labor force, 12 million people have been added to the welfare roll, the monthly job additions aren't even enough to keep pace with population growth. So again, Carson is correct. It doesn't take a genius to understand that when the government goes deeper in debt with spending, all it is doing is devaluing the currency and thus eroding the purchasing power of consumers through inflation. I bet you Dr Carson knows that Ducky. I bet Dr Carson also knows that a weaker currency leads to higher oil/gas prices, because commodities are priced in U.S Dollars. That also leads to less purchasing power of the consumer. Dr Carson also realizes that the U.S economy is primarly driven by "consumer spending:", and people can't spend what they don't have, because it's going towards inflated priced gasoline and food prices. Again, Dr. Carson is brilliant, because he understands common sense.

Ducky's here "For a brilliant man he came up with absolutely nothing original."

Well Ducky, you are right. Dr. Carson came up with nothing original. He was brilliant again, because he just used common sense. Nothing fancy nor flashy about common sense, it just works.

I like how you put taxs in simple math on flat taxes but there is a working example of flat taxes and that is state sales tax. This can be used as an example for people as well. If a person buys a car for $9,999 in florida with a tax rate of 6.5% on all purchases vs. a person who buys a BMW worth $100,000, who is paying more in taxes and how much are both paying in taxes? Well the person purchasing a car at $100,000 is paying 6500$ in taxes to the state while a person buying a car for $9,999 is paying $649.94 in taxes to the state. Simple math and a simple way to explain it. However, as you point out the left doesn't seem to understand this, it is like explaining such to a dog sure the dog looks at you but it just doesn't get it.

Very simple... but is it really "the same?" The guy that bought the BMW obviously makes waaaayyyyy more money than the guy who buys a $10,000 vehicle. If he's fortunate enough to be able to buy such an expensive vehicle, he's smart enough to have accountants, money managers and lawyers that he 'PAYS' to make sure he 'PAYS' as little taxes (federal and state) as possible.

absolutely mind blowing speech by a brilliant man! i defy anyone to disagree or disprove a word he said, our great country was built and use to be run by people who thought like this and if it still was we would not be in the state we are in but like Dr. Carson i remain optimistic for the future of the U.S.A !

Again under a flat tax which everybody pays, the person who makes more will PAY MORE allen and it's still equal. Liberals like you don't like this, which just goes to show that you all can care less about "equality", all you all really care about is punishing the person who has more then you. Also how do you know that the person who bought the BMW makes more then the person who bought the $10,000 car? Have you ever read the book "The Millionaire Next Door" allen? Oh wait, that probably wouldn't be the type of book a progressive would like, never mind. Anyways, many high net worth people in this country actually drive inexpensive cars. There a people who own a BMW who are struggling every month just to pay the car not in order to keep up with their appearance of success.
